Just how big is Alaska?
571,951 sq mi. (1,4 81,353 sq km), equal to 1/5 of the continental United States.

Alaska is the farthest North, West, and East point of the United States. It crosses the international date line.

Purchased from Russia October 18, 1867 for two cents per acre ($7,200,000).  Alaska joined the United States January 3, 1959 as the 49th State.

Most of Alaska maintains distinctive days and nights throughout the year (though the days may be very short in winter and very long in summer).

The north slope and the area above the Brooks Range does experience a "long winter's night" and a true "midnight sun". At the farthest north point in the United States, Barrow Alaska, the sun sets in late November and does not rise again until late January. The midnight sun in Barrow starts in mid-May and ends in early August.

The long Alaska summer days are perfect for capturing the scenic beauty of Alaska. And Alaska in the winter is dramatic and powerful-just what you need for your production.
